[GreenYes] Question about ewaste or escrap in States that don't buy scrap

The recycling electronics industry relies upon Scrap buyers or
commodity buyers.
So what happens in States that don't buy scrap and there are no
facilities to take Metal, Plastics, CRT's and so on.
Does it end up in the landfill?
In my experience there's only so much that can be donated to good
causes.
Electronic waste goes far beyond Computers and monitors.
And here's an issue that doesn't get addressed very often
What about Telephones, Home stereos, Microwaves, Household electronics
that are not computer related.
