Isn?t Thermoselect the system that recently was shut down in Germany after repeated problems? This is in practice what the Star Tech and Westinghouse system does but without flame or Oxygen. Thermal Waste Treatment: a Better Approach Calaminus B., Stahlberg R. Chemtech 1998, October, 40-46 (Eng.) The Thermoselect High-Temperature Recycling process combines slow compression, degassing, fixed-bed oxygen blown high temperature gasification, and mineral and metal residue smelting in a closed-loop system to completely transform municipal, industrial and other kinds of waste into directly usable products. The Thermoselect process is presented on a diagram; the most important chemical reactions taking place at each step of this process are listed on another diagram. The article also contains a figure listing all steps for the complete Thermoselect process. One metric tonne of waste and approximately 500 kg of oxygen yields: 890 kg of synthetic gas (that could be used for conversion into electricity, or as a substrate for chemical synthesis), 350 kg of water used for cooling, 230 kg of carbon-free vitrified minerals (for use in various industrial applications), 29 kg of ferrous metal alloy granulate for reintroduction into the iron or copper industry, 10 kg of industrial quality NaCl, 3 kg of non-ferrous metal concentrate (mainly zinc and lead), and 2 kg of industrial quality sulphur. The article also gives three examples of actual implementation of the aforementioned process in plants located in Karlsruhe, Ansbach, and Hanau, Germany. Presented herein in support of further informed discussion of High heat non incineration method of recycle proposed earlier. leonard e. wheeler jr --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "GreenYes" group.
