[GreenYes] Re: waste-free cafes

I'd suggest contacting Judy Wickes at the White dog Cafe in
Philadelphia, see
http://www.whitedog.com/serve_earth.html
White Dog Cafe
3420 Sansom Street - Philadelphia, PA 19104

Also the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments has a Hotel and
Restaurant Recycling Guide posted on their web site at
http://www.mwcog.org/environment/recycling/hotel/

Also I had this in my files :

Here is what the great state of North Carolina is doing with bar and
restaurant container recovery. Click this link:

In 2005, House Bill 1518 was ratified to require holders of certain
Alcohol Beverage Commission permits to implement recycling efforts for
beverage containers sold on premises by January 2008. The bill further
provides a disposal ban on these materials.

On the local scene, The City of Hickory in western NC has a
city-operated bar recycling program. Contact John Yvars for more
information on Hickory's program jyvars@no.address

Hi Michael,
Saw your posing on JTR. Here's some MA info:

Commercial Waste Disposal Assessment Report, November 2002 (has some
estimates of restaurant waste generation at):
http://www.mass.gov/dep/recycle/priorities/dswmpu01.htm#landfills

Case study Western MA restaurant recycling (scroll down,
"Northampton..."):
http://www.mass.gov/dep/recycle/reduce/composti.htm#summit

Inventory of commercial recycling programs:

1998 CIWMB publication for restaurants:
http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Publications/BizWaste/44198016.pdf

Vermont did a waste composition study as well in 2002 that includes a
separate category for restaurant waste

In addition, our Business Environmental Partnership program
http://www.vbep.org/ and the Green Hotels Program
http://www.vtgreenhotels.org/ include innovations used. The contact
person for these programs is Chad Cliburn at the above email address.
