Apologies for Cross-Postings " Zero in on Zero Waste - Don't let your Bottom Line go to Waste" Join us for the First Annual Zero Waste Business Conference on Thursday, June 8, 2006, in Anaheim, CA. Zero Waste experts and corporations will highlight how businesses have saved money by implementing Zero Waste practices in their daily operations. This conference is designed to bring Orange County businesses, government agencies and nonprofits together with knowledgeable experts in the field of Zero Waste who can demonstrate how to turn a company's waste stream into a profitable resource. The California Integrated Waste Management Board has adopted Zero Waste as one of its seven goals in its Strategic Plan. The Urban Environmental Accords include Zero Waste as a goal by 2040. The GrassRoots Recycling Network highlights Zero Waste Businesses as those that divert more than 90% of their waste from landfill & incineration. Many communities in California are adopting Zero Waste goals and developing plans to implement those goals. Terry Tamminen, Governor Schwarzenegger?s Special Assistant on Energy and the Environment, has challenged California to achieve Zero Waste by 2025. Many laws are now being proposed that affect local business regulating how and what can be disposed, both here and abroad. Businesses can position themselves strategically to offer products in an environmentally sound way while minimizing their cost of production. The day will be kicked off by our dynamic keynote speakers including: Terry Tamminen, Special Advisor to the Governor on Energy and the Environment and former Secretary of CalEPA; Eiko Risch, Division Manager of Ricoh Electronics Inc. (which diverts over 90% of its waste from landfills); and Thomas Kiser , President of Professional Supply Inc. and member of the Board of Green Cross.
