For those interested in beverage container recycling....there is a new session that was just added to the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) Congress Agenda in the last ew days. I don't know if it is in the on-line program pdf, but if you go to NRC's web site, latest program info, Monday (afternoon) sessions, then you can get to the info below. Bottle bill advocates may recognize some of the speakers and/or consulting firms who have written, testified and lobbied against bottle bills for many years. FYI....Cascadia is the consulting firm that did the report in 2002 for the beverage and retail interests that attempted to derail the bottle bill in Hawaii. A Hard Look at Beverage Containers and How to Recycle More of Them Come learn about the initial results of research sponsored by BPEC, the Beverage Packaging Environmental Council. Participants will get a first look at a unique analysis using industry marketing data to quantify where beverage containers are actually consumed ? and where they can be recovered. Using this data, presenters will also discuss challenges and opportunities to improve container recovery rates. Speakers: Kevin Dietly, Northbridge Environmental (Westford, MA) Ted Siegler, DSM Environmental Services, Inc. (Ascutney, VT) Natalie Starr, DSM Environmental Services, Inc. (Ascutney, VT) Mark Daudon, Cascadia Consulting Group (Seattle, WA) [Pat Franklin] **************************************** Patricia Franklin Executive Director Container Recycling Institute TEL: 703.276.9800 FAX: 703.276.9587 EMAIL: pfranklin@no.address http://www.container-recycling.org http://www.bottlebill.info |
