There is a practical way to answer questions like this: get industry or 
commerce department data on SALES of the products and then pro-rate 
national or regional data to arrive at a figure for your local population. 
This is reliable for products with a very short (single-use) lifetime.

The easiest way to measure what comes out of the pipe is to measure what 
goes in.
