Almost nine in ten EU citizens say environment policy is "just as
important as economic policies," according to a new opinion poll of
attitudes to green issues.  Environment commissioner Stavros Dimas has
hailed the findings as giving the EU a "clear mandate to continue
working to deliver a high level of environmental protection".
