RE: [greenyes] LED not Replaceable
When I was researching this topic for holiday outreach materials it appeared that several of the companies including the one you mention specifically marketed their bulbs as being non-replaceable. According to these companies the strands are made to be so durable that a single bulb would not fail and need to be replaced, so the entire strand would have a much longer lifespan. It is quite disappointing to hear that they are not quite as durable as they advertised. They may offer some sort of warranty/guarantee although that certainly doesn't resolve the resource waste issue. Apparently LED strands that and wired in parallel do exist, so maybe that is the way to go. However, I have had a hard time locating them. Has anyone out there found LED light strands wired in parallel?

This link discusses the rationale for non-replaceable lights:

The same discussion appears on the forever-bright website (I copied their text below):

WHAT ARE NON-REPLACEABLE L.E.D.s???
Our patented manufacturing process includes the injecting of plastic material over the connection of the L.E.D. and the copper wire. The husk or socket that normally has the bulb inserted into it on our set is actually a one-piece injection. This means that the L.E.D. cannot be removed from the socket and therefore no replacement L.E.D.s will ever be needed.

Warranty Information:
If the L.E.D.s in this set fail within one year from the date of purchase, exchange it where purchased following their return policy. If the L.E.D.s in this set fail after the first year from the date of purchase, ship it prepaid with proof of purchase to the address below. We will replace the set with a comparable set or refund the purchase. This guarantee excludes damage resulting from accident, alteration or misuse of the product. The guarantee specifically excludes electrical wiring.

The only other email address they give is
sales@no.address
And I see they only have a fax number, They do not
want to be contacted easily.
