This one-day event is a gathering of Zero Waste experts and advocates from across North America and around the globe. GRRN, as the U.S. affiliate of the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA), is working to organize this nation to become an international leader in advancing Zero Waste policies, planning and practices. Attendees will be collaborating to move the ideas of Zero Waste into action.

The agenda is built around three interrelated objectives:

· Articulate a shared vocabulary and commonly understood policy framework around Zero Waste;
· Provide a forum for networking to increase cohesion and facilitate on-going collaboration;
· Develop an action plan to further advance our framework in the realms of public policy and corporate practice.

Who should attend?
· Long-time GRRN participants
· New recruits, including students and youth
· Community activists fighting landfills or incinerators and advocating the Zero Waste alternative
· Allies in GRRN campaigns
· Anyone interested in learning more about Zero Waste

GrassRoots Recycling Network (GRRN) is a North American network of recycling professionals and waste reduction activists pushing public policy and corporate practice beyond recycling.

Recycling is one of America's great success stories, but we can only do so much managing waste "at the end of the pipe." In order to preserve resources, protect our environment and public health, and create robust local economies, we must change who pays to manage products at the end of their useful life and focus on the way products are designed and manufactured - without toxic materials and with reuse, recycling and composting in mind.
