Susan Bush ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// JOB POSTING ------------------------------ Orange County Personnel Department 208 South Cameron Street Hillsborough, NC 27278 Solid Waste Enforcement Supervisor Solid Waste Management Department Posting 5078-848 Description: Enforces Regulated Recyclable Material Ordinance (RRMO) through issuance of permits, licenses, certifications, and citations. Coordinates the implementation of the ordinance in other jurisdictions within the County. Compiles and analyzes data on building projects, types of waste generated, methods of management of waste material and the associated permit fees. Conducts jobsite visits and monitors waste loads. Conducts follow-up to reports of violations Conducts follow up inspections of certified recycling facilities and analyzes regular tonnage and customer reports. Issues citations and recommends suspensions or revocations of licenses. Participates in development review processes, reviewing solid waste management plans and making recommendations as necessary. Maintains records and recommends revisions to the RRMO. Advises staff on budgetary issues related to ordinance administration and enforcement. Supervises, assigns, and evaluates the work of assigned personnel. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, industrial science, environmental management, public administration, planning or related field and at least three years supervisory experience in solid waste management, construction management, hazardous waste, code enforcement, recycling or related area. Requires the ability to work independently and strong written and oral communication, leadership, operations management, computer and safety/environmental skills. Prefer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
