1)  This is an excellent case in point regarding an earlier post about
enviro-political proclivities. - Those of us who fail to recognize,
understand and discuss how politics colors the environmental landscape
in this country are doomed to frustration.  At the highest level in this
country, politics will determine the course of environmental progress or
retreat for the next several years.

2)  Based on what I heard from an NPR news story this a.m., it looks
like it's going to be yet another partisan fight to confirm or reject
Mike Leavitt.  Sad but true.
