Re: Vote in U.S. Senate on McCain-Lieberman Amendment to Energy Bill
Senators John McCain (R - Ariz.) and Joseph Lieberman (D - CT) plan to press
for a vote in the U.S. Senate on an amendment to the energy bill, which would
cap greenhouse gas emissions. While these senators expect the amendment will
fail, they want a recorded vote.
Senator McCain anticipates a vote on Wednesday, July 30, but scheduling is up
to Majority Leader Bill Frist (R - TN). Sen. Frist is pressing for final
passage of the energy bill this week or he may hold them in session and delay the
August recess.
Faxed letters, telegrams and telephone calls are more effective than e-mail
at this point. Be sure to copy McCain and Lieberman on anything you send to
your senators.
