Manager, Social Investment: Shell Oil Company, including its consolidated
companies and its share in equity companies, is one of America's leading oil
and natural gas providers, natural gas marketers, gasoline marketers and
petrochemical manufacturers. Shell Oil is the leading oil and gas producer
in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and is a recognized pioneer in oil and gas
exploration and production technology. Corporate Affairs and Human Resources
remains focused on its primary objectives of strengthening Shell's corporate
reputation, building brand awareness, supporting Shell's strategic goals,
and aligning with the communication goals and objectives of the Royal Dutch/
Shell Group. Shell's Social Investment Department is currently seeking a
Manager, Social Investment to plan, develop and implement a new Shell Social
Investment program, as well as manage existing social investment programs
related to sustainable development with a focus on biodiversity. You will
liaise with external stakeholders, sustainable development experts,
government representatives and numerous Shell departments. This position
will be based in downtown Houston with approximately 20% travel (mostly
domestic) required. In this highly visible position, you will manage and
oversee one of two new Social Investment Initiatives that address key areas
of Shell Oil Company's business interests, while ensuring the new activities
and programs are developed within the parameters of an existing program
relationship. You will be responsible for communicating program goals and
objectives to a broad audience, evaluating the program to insure that it
meets the set objectives, and supervising the program budget. The program
itself will have high national visibility. To be considered for this
position, you must possess a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) along
with related work experience. Knowledge of sustainable development issues,
environmental background, political issues awareness, communications/public
affairs, and/or state government experience are helpful. Strong planning and
implementation skills are essential. You must have excellent presentation
and writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated
teamwork and leadership skills will be key to your success in this role.
Experience with a nonprofit agency or a public relations agency would be an
asset. In addition to the tasks outlined in this job description, you may be
