    According to the 10/29/01 Plastics News, the American Plastics Council
and the American Chemistry Council have formally agreed to merge, with ACC
president Fred Webber to lead the combined group.

    No information is provided about the impact of the merger on APC's
interest in recycling issues, but the inference would not seem to suggest an
increase in interest by the plastics industry in assisting recycling.
