According to the 6/16/99 Wall Street Journal ("More Young People Turn Away
from Politics and Concentrate Instead on Community Service," by Elizabeth
Crowley), there is a trend among the coming generation to reduce its
involvement in politics but increase its participation in local community
service.

"'If you want to make a difference, you should do it face-to-face and
person-to-person rather than through campaign work,' says [a] University of
San Diego graduate."
