Please see the following e-mail I received from Lipton. I contacted =
Lipton regarding their packaging. They sell a product called "I Can't =
Believe It's Not Butter". One of the ways you can purchase this product =
is a two tub package. They join these two tubs with a paperboard =
wrapper. I asked if this wrapper was made from recycled paper and if =
so, does it contain post-consumer recycled content.

I would like to know if any of the list members have further information =
about Lipton's statement. Is their food contact claim legitimate? It =
seems strange to me that a box of pasta (where the food actually touches =
the paperboard) can contain recycled material, yet plastic encased =
margarine is a problem. =20

When I inquired with Safeway as to why their plastic grocery sacks were =
not recycled into new grocery sacks, I received a similar response; they =
had to concern themselves with food contact.

I know that the FDA has approved recycled content in beverage =
containers, hence the Coke campaign. What about other uses of recycled =
material?=20

I am currently communicating with a number of manufacturers about their =
packaging. I would appreciate any help that you can provide.
