According to the 2/15/99 Plastics News ("Leaching phthalates debate drips
over to IV bag materials"):

"Concerns about phthalates leaching from PVC toyes is about to broaden
to themediacl industry, with a heath care organization set to aluch a
consumer eduaction campaign.

"[Health Care Without Harm] plants to lauch a campaign later this month
about what it sees as the danger of phthalates leaching from PVC IV bags
[due to the additive DEHP]....

"An FDA spokeswonan said the agency is conducting a risk assessment of
DEHP in IV bags, prompted bythe concerns European governments have raised
about phthalates leaching from PVC toys."
