> POSITION SUMMARY: Assisting the Recycling and Solid Waste Manager in the planning, development and implementation of waste prevention, recycling and household hazardous waste programs for residents, businesses, schools and city departments.
>
> EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

> Commercial Technical Assistance Program:
>
> ! Plan, develop and implement commercial recycling and waste prevention programs.
> ! Conduct on-site waste assessments and develop reports with recommendations.
> ! Maintain a data base of businesses served.
>
> Residential:
>
> ! Plan, coordinate and promote public workshops on organic gardening, composting, art reuse and repair. Develop and implement other topic workshops.
> ! Assist in implementing and promoting annual events.
> ! Assist in development of educational guides. Distribute educational materials to public locations on a regular basis.
>
> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
>
> KNOWLEDGE OF: Solid waste management principles and practices. Recycling and waste prevention program development and implementation experience.

> ABILITY TO: Operate a personal computer. Knowledge of Word or Word Perfect and EXCEL desirable. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals, business operators, fellow employees and the general public; conduct public presentations; communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

> EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school.
>
> EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years experience in developing and implementing waste prevention and recycling programs, including public education and outreach activities.
>
> LICENSE: Must possess and maintain a valid California Operator's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
>
> MEDICAL EXAMINATION: Appointment to City positions will be made contingent upon the result of the job related medical evaluation which will include a physical examination, administered at no expense to the candidate. In accordance with federal state law, efforts to accommodate physical disabilities will be made. Applicants must consent to a drug screen test as part of the medical examination. The results of the physical and drug test will be provided to the City of Millbrae. The City of Millbrae has a drug-free workplace policy. Use of illegal drugs will disqualify any candidate from employment.
