Dear Colleagues,
A number of weeks ago, I posted a request seeking information on
school recycling "competitions" designed to increase diversion rates
at schools in your area.
A number of you responded, providing us with a great deal of
information we could use as we designed a program for schools in the
Bronx.
After much hard work, I'm pleased to announce that the Bronx Solid
Waste Advisory Board has finally kicked off the "Bronx Race to
Recycle!". The informal competition will take place between January
and Earth Day. Schools are asked to complete a questionnaire about
their program and track their diversion rate over an 8-week period.
Winners will be selected in a wide range of categories, representing
the best programs among the area's 330+ public, private, and parochial
schools.
I've attached a copy of the press release announcing the competition.
Anyone interested in obtaining a copy of the Race guidelines and
tracking forms should e-mail me your address and we'll send something
out in the next few weeks.
