[GreenYes] Re: Wal-Mart to reduce plastic bag waste by 33% per store

Title: [GreenYes] Re: Wal-Mart to reduce plastic bag waste by 33% per store

Thanks for sharing article and link.

Talk about plastic, I have received so many email alerts against
re-using plastic containers that one should consider looking at
bottoms of plastic wares for the recycling codes and decide against
using them to hold stuff that we put in our mouth.  That should push
the call to re-use glass posted on Zero Waste Vancouver blog.

If you need a presentation to encourage use of glass and ceramic wares
over plastic, I have posted one on SlideShare.

Bottoms? Take a peek.

There are many useful links on slide 12 if you would like to download
it to modify for your own presentation.  One of them, "The Resource
for Environmental Health Risks affecting Your Children" indicated
that, as a precaution, plastics with chemical make up of #3 PVC
(polyvinyl chloride), #6 PS (polystyrene) and polycarbonate (often
indicated by the #7) should not be used to serve food or drinks in.

The important thing to remember is that chemical can leech into your
food or drinks.  So, it is best to remove food purchased from
supermarket stored in polystyrene tray and put them in glass or
ceramic ware for storage.  I used to put tray and food into the
freezer right after marketing!  Now I know better.
