At the end of May I posted a link to a blog
post I did about how the Zero Waste officials of the Brazilian state of Parana gave Tetra Pak a
60-day ultimatum or else face a possible packaging ban. Well, it was just
announced that Tetra Pak chose to cut a deal. The interesting thing to me is
hearing state officials now say that this is just the first of EPR deals they
are seeking for a long list of things, including plastic bags, batteries,
tires, lamps, motor oil, other types of packaging and even civil construction
materials. Seems that Parana
may be serious about their Zero Waste objective….
