[GreenYes] #1 Plastic leaching

Hi,
A while back, there was a thread regarding #1 Plastics and the safety of this product.
I am not where my files are and have a question.  Do chemicals leach from # 1 plastic bottles?  If so, is it because of temperature?  
I recall that the big no no was re use because of bacteria.
Just need a quick explanation.
