[GreenYes] New Zealand considering $10-30/tonne national waste levy

In New Zealand, a draft proposal for the introduction of a 
$10-30/tonne levy on waste has been prepared by members of local 
government and waste industry (convened by the Ministry for the 
Environment).  It is intended as a discussion paper for interested 
parties to consider before a formal  proposal is submitted to the 
Minister for the Environment for the consideration of government.

This proposal is conceptual in nature and it is acknowledged that 
further work will be required on the detail before any scheme can be 
formally proposed.
