The following job has been posted: Position Number: 432900000029009 Job Title: ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER II Working Title: Salary Range: $43,157 - $71,761 Hiring Range: $00,000 - $00,000 Salary Grade: 76 Division: POLLUTION PREVENTION & ENVIR ASSISTANCE Type of Appointment: Permanant Full-Time Location: WAKE Closing Date: 04/21/2006 Description of Work THIS EMPLOYEE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTING AS THE LEAD TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER FOR MEMBERS OF DENR'S ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP INITATIVE (ESI). TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WILL INCLUDE DEVELOPING ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (EMS), POLLUTION PREVENTION (P2) STRATEGIES, DEVELOPING, TRACKING AND REPORING MEASURABLE ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE GOALS AND HELPING MEMBERS COMPLY WITH LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS. THIS POSITION WILL ALSO SERVE AS LEAD VERIFIER FOR ON-SITE VERIFICATIONS FOR ESI MEMBERS APPLYING FOR THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION AND WILL ASSIST WITH TRAINING ON A VARIETY OF SUBJECTS INCLUDING EMS, PS AND NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATON.INDIVIDUAL WILL INTERACT WITH A WIDE RANGE OF INDUSTRY PERSONNEL,LOCAL,STATE, AND FEDERAL OFFICIALS; AND OTHER ENTITIES AS NEEDED. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISO 14001 STANDARD FOR EMS, AUDITING PRINCIPLES, ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS, INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES AND ENVIRONMENTALREGULATORY PROGRAMS INCLUDING AIR AND WATER QUALITY AND SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT; SKILL IN EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATING TECHNICAL METHODS AND SOLUTIONS IN WRITTEN AND ORAL FORM; ABILITY TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH STAFF, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE OFFICIALS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Training and Experience Requirements GRADUATION FROM A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY WITH A MAJOR IN CIVILENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, OR A RELATED ENGINEERING CURRICULUM AND TWO YEARSOF ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE INCLUDING ONE YEAR IN AN AREA RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.
