CRI HAS MOVED TO DC!!!
After 7 years in Arlington, VA the Container Recycling Institute has moved

NAPCOR RELEASES 2004 PET BOTTLE RECYCLING RATE
The PET bottle recycling rate increased slightly, from 19.6% in 2003 to
21.6% in 2004, but it is far below the nearly 40% rate reached in 1995.
Americans are still only recycling one in five PET bottles manufactured.
CRI calculations show that nearly one-third of the increase was due to the
increase in recovery in CA ....a result of the increase in the CRV value
from 2.5 cents to 4 cents for containers less than 24 onces and from 4 to 8
cents for containers over 24 ounces. (See attached Plastics News article
that quotes CRI's research director, Jenny Gitliz.)  We expect the American
Plastics Council to release their numbers for all plastic bottles soon.
