Apologies for Cross-Postings: The GrassRoots Recycling Network (GRRN) is pleased to announce its second annual Zero Waste Action Conference: Building Zero Waste Communities: Tools to Take Home May 23-25, 2005 New York, New York This two-and-a-half-day gathering is designed for public officials, planners, community members and organizers working toward Zero Waste. Attendees will learn best practices, initiatives and processes from other communities that have implemented Zero Waste plans or elements of Zero Waste, and the technical information and tools needed to build a Zero Waste community. Learn about the Precautionary Principle as a fundamental assumption in a Zero Waste society. Get the facts about the economic and environmental advantages of choosing Zero Waste strategies and the problems with modern landfills and incinerator technology being proposed to local officials throughout the world. Meet with your peers working in New York, the U.S. and Canada to discuss challenges, different program approaches, and to create strategies for your own community or region. Receive tools for getting your community to Zero Waste, including a framework for introducing Zero Waste to your community?s legislators and stakeholders, sample policies and legislation, resources and references for building infrastructure, community planning handbooks, promotional campaign artwork and how-to?s.
