Recycling Programs Supervisor

Pay Range: $38,913 - $62,209 (Grade 18)

Job Description
Performs professional management duties including administrative and
field supervision for public recycling programs such as Urban Curbside,
Rural Curbside, Multifamily, Commercial, HHW, Electronics and
Govermental Office Recycling. 
Develops, implements and manages programs for the Recycling Operations
Division. 
Assists in the preparation and oversight of program budgets. 
Confers w/ residents, business owners, and government agencies on space
availability and other issues regarding recycling and waste reduction
functions. 
Provides high quality customer service and ensures that collected
materials are properly prepared and of sufficient quality for shipment
to processors. 
Interacts with public on a wide variety of subjects and provides
information and education on mulitple programs available to citizens. 
Develops and recommends contracts and special agreements for a wide
variety of programs and materials. 
Utilizes analytical kills to perform program analysis and development.

Trains, instructs and supervises staff. 
Evaluates employee performance and counsels employees.

Requirements: 
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to
graduation from an accredited college or university with major
coursework in public administration, education, public relations,
marketing, communications, environmental sciences or related field and 
at least two years administrative experience in solid waste management
operations, hazardous waste, recyclables collection/processing or
related area including 
at least one year supervisory experience. 
Requires strong oral and written communications skills. 
Prefer familiarity with collection and processing equipment and
experience in management of special wastes. 
Must possess driver's license valid in the State of NC. 
Must obtain SWANA Manager of Municipal Solid Waste Recycling Systems
certification within one year of hire date.
