Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition 760 North First St. San Jose, CA 95112 408-287-6707 svtc@no.address www.svtc.org Job Announcement Campus Campaign Coordinator Clean Computer Campaign The Clean Computer Campaign is a project of Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC), a 22-year old non-profit organization committed to the practice of social justice and multi-racial democracy. SVTC envisions a sustainable world where a healthy environment is a right, rather than a privilege. To bring about this vision, SVTC works for the empowerment of people locally, nationally and globally. SVTC is seeking a Campus Campaign Coordinator to organize and manage a new Sustainable Information Procurement initiative for the Clean Computer Campaign. The Campus Campaign Coordinator will provide leadership in creating cutting edge environmental purchasing policies for San Francisco Bay Area college and university campuses. The Coordinator will work closely with campus sustainability planning groups, procurement officials, students and national environmental organizations to draft and implement green computer purchasing guidelines that will serve as model purchasing specifications for campuses throughout the nation. Responsibilities 1. Work closely with SVTC staff to plan and implement the Sustainable Information Procurement initiative on multiple campuses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area; 2. Do outreach and organizing on campuses with students, administrators, faculty and staff; 3. Do collaborative research with partners to assess current campus procurement policies and evaluate opportunities for developing more sustainable purchasing policies; 4. Prepare outreach materials to support the campus organizing. Qualifications · Excellent communication and writing skills · Creative research skills · Ability to work independently · Experience in organizing, collaborative project work, and team building · Commitment to working on sustainable development policy · Ability to work in diverse social settings · Experience working on procurement or contracting issues is a plus. Reports to: Clean Computer Campaign Director Compensation: Annual salary depends on experience.
