How about setting up a reuse program right at the disposal site(s)? This creates an oppotunity for all manner of reusables to find their way to the local community. In Sonoma County we have had such a program since 1985 and it has been so successful the county has now created a huge facility just for reuse. That way people can drop reusables off, and if the company that operates the reuse facility is non-profit they can get a tax dediction for their donation, there are no liability or safety concerns. It does take up space but usually there is space at disposal sites in the buffer zones. Pavitra Crimmel |
