Speaking of, speaking of....
Based on this plastic bag issue that my town is having - has any town in North America of any reasonable size - e.g. Population 500,000 or more - been successful in implementing a program whereby they ban Grocery stores - large conglomerates - from actually distributing plastic grocery bags? Is this possible?
I've heard of the GreenDot program in Germany - but my research in Canada - has resulted in this program being owned BY the conglomerates - so.... where is the incentive for THEM to implement such a program - whereby they are responsible for their own packaging waste?? Can a municipality realistically implement such a program? If Yes, please show me an example - thanks.
