For those interested in a summary of state and federal mercury product
legislation in the US in the 2003-2004 session, I would be glad to send a
copy of the latest update via email.
In this legislative session, just over 90 bills have been introduced,
although in some cases, multiple bills on the same issue have been
introduced in individual states.
To date, 13 bills have been adopted, as follows:
Connecticut 3 bills are now law
Indiana 1 bill adopted
Maine 5 bills signed into law
Nebraska 1 bill is now law
Texas 1 bill adopted
Washington 2 bills became law
In addition, in Illinois, 3 bills have been adopted and two of these have
been
sent to the Governor for his signature.
While about half a dozen states have now adjourned their Legislatures, in
other states, the Legislature remains into session until at least the middle
of next year.
Please let me know if you would like a copy of the summary list.
