R.W. Beck is nearing completion of a single stream
study for the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA). We
examined several single stream programs, including those that were once
source-separated (two stream or more) and converted to single stream, as well as
those that originated as single stream. Some programs excluded
glass. As part of the study, bale tests were performed at mills to test
for quality. Over 200 samples were taken from both single stream and two-stream
programs from 60 communities or metro areas around the country.
