This is in response to the Battery disc. last week

In Orange Co. NC alkaline batteries go to Canada for recycling.  I know of NO facility within continental US that recycles alkalines.  We send (or to be more specific, have sent) our batteries to Battery Solutions, a battery broker who sorts the batteries and then sends the various types of batteries to different recycling facilities.  Battery Solutions sends our Alkaline batteries to a Canadian Company (see below for more info).  No batteries sent to Battery Solutions are landfilled, all are sent to recycling facilities. 

Industrial Marine Salvage Inc. a.k.a. Raw Materials Company (they go by either name) in Port Colborne Canada processes alkalines for recycling.  They have web page as follows:  www.rawmaterials.com
