Please call Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver IMMEDIATELY (518/455-3791) or
email him (speaker@assembly.state.ny.us) and ask him to call for a vote on
the Bottle Bill expansion bill (A 7337) TODAY.

If the assembly passes the House bill TODAY, there is a good chance that the
Senate will pass it tomorrow.  This bill would expand the current Bottle
Bill to include all beverage containers except milk, but it would NOT take
the unclaimed deposits.

Beverages like bottled water and sports drinks that are not covered by the
Bottle Bill are recycled at rates far lower than those that are covered by
the Bottle Bill.  Expanding the bill to include these additional beverages
would result in much higher beverage container recycling rates, less bottle
and can litter, and reduced consumption of our natural resources.
