Lead Project Line-Staff Position Job Description
on Ecology Action's P2! (Pollution Prevention) Team
2 Temporary Full Time Positions with Benefits (12 months)
Hourly Rate: $15.50-$17.50 (based on experience and qualifications)
General Description:
Ecology Action, a non-profit organization, seeks a team oriented, talented, energetic, flexible and organized individual to fill a lead line staff replacement position on the Pollution Prevention (P2!) projects Team. Duties include managing, planning and implementing specific projects or components of team projects, including management of project budgets. Start date for one position is early to mid-April 2002, with the second position to begin July 1, 2002. These positions are replacement positions and focus on project planning, implementation and oversight. Candidates will work with support of team and manager and will oversee work of assigned support line staff on specific project components. Positions will work directly with clients, business partners and the California Integrated Waste Management Board in implementing and administering project work.
P2! Team Projects Summary
Currently, the P2! Team has project work in the areas of used oil recycling, re-refined motor oil promotion, household hazardous waste programs, integrated pest management (IPM) and manure management programs. These programs are focussed in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay Area, and extend throughout Northern California (Counties of Butte, Stanislaus, Fresno, Madera, and San Francisco). Travel to the Central Valley and some weekend work will be required for this position. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
Specific components of the projects where skills are desired:
ÿ Oversight, coordination and implementation of agricultural oil recycling programs
ÿ Oversight, coordination and implementation of boater and marina oil recycling programs
ÿ Oversight, coordination, technical expertise and implementation of IPM Programs
ÿ Oversight, coordination and implementation of mainstream and local media and press events
ÿ Management of student and temporary work teams to conduct door-to-door oil recycling outreach
Required Qualifications
… Undergraduate college degree in the area of Environmental Studies, Physical Sciences, Social Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field;
… Five or more years volunteer, intern, educational, or professional experience (or combination thereof) in the area of environmental or community program implementation, business or related field;
… Excellent and professional communication, coordination and organizational skills a must;
… Budget and project management skills and experience required;
… Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word programs, preferably Macintosh based.
… Managerial experience, excellent time management skills and the ability to multi task required; and
… Valid California Class C Drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications
… Spanish language writing and speaking proficiency desired;
… Ability to work in a constantly changing, high energy, small office environment; and
… Proficiency with desktop publishing programs such as PageMaker, PhotoShop and Illustrator).
