As I recall, the feds established a requirement that all DOT funded road
projects use scrap tire asphalt. I do not know the details but it was to
be a rainmaker for scrap tires. Unfortunately, this order was put on
hold as the final product (RMA) was found to be unstable, and did not
meet federal wear specs. Or at least this is my recollection of the RMA
issue in the US, and why no one is using it.
Anyone out there have any better details of where the mandate stands
today?
