A neighboring district has calculated the cost of recovering mercury from
fluorescent tubes at around $8,000/lb.  Compared to other products this is
very high.  They've asked state regulators a legitimate but seemingly
irrelevant question "Could this money be used more effectively elsewhere?."

Yeah, I think computers should have a higher priority for removal than
fluorescents.  But, I could be wrong.
