[GreenYes] Disposables or...

Does anyone have good data about the costs/benefits (life cycle if possible) of using disposable dishes versus reusable dishes?  This question is especially in relation to schools - whether it is more environmentally sound to buy washing machines, use water to wash dishes - or go the disposable route/
