[GreenYes] Economic Impacts of Recycling

    According to a report done for the California Integrated Waste
Management Board, The Economic Impact of Waste Disposal and Diversion in
California, by George Goldman of UC Berkeley (April 2001) :

 "[D]iverting solid waste has a significantly higher impact on the economy
than disposing it. When material is diverted rather than disposed in
California:
        >Total sales and  value added impacts more than double;
        >Output impacts and total income impacts nearly double; and
        >The jobs impact nearly doubles."
