[GreenYes] PVC in Medical Bags
According to the May 2001 Modern Plastics ("Polyolefins find niche in IV bags"), work continues developing commercial alternatives to PVC in IV bags used in hospitals. Efforts are focusing on a three layer polypropylene bag to impart the softening and barrier properties of PVC. Hopes are high but work remains at the pre-commercial level because anticipated public pressure forcing hospitals to switch away from phthalate containing PVC tubing has been less than expected.
