BE PART OF AN HISTORIC EVENT!
ECOnference 2000
As we enter the 21st century, the environment is in a
state of crisis:
- We've lost over 80% of our world's ancient forests.
- The 10 hottest years on record have all occurred
since 1980.
- 40% of our nation's waters are not safe for fishing
and swimming.
- Within 50 years, one quarter of the world's species
could be lost forever.
Now is the time to do something about it!
ECOnference 2000 is a national student environmental
conference at the University of Pennsylvania on
October 15-17, 1999. Thousands of students from all
over the country and the world will be gathering in
Philadelphia for a weekend of workshops, speakers,
discussion groups, and political actions.
Some of the greatest environmental leaders of our
time, like Ralph Nader and Lois Gibbs, will be there
to speak and lead workshops. Attendees will learn the
skills that it takes to make a difference.
Also, at ECOncert 2000 there will be live performances
by the lead singers of Rusted Root and Spearhead as
well as other bands, an ECO art fair exhibit, and an
exciting rally in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.
The conference is sponsored by over 50 national
environmental organizations including Campus Green
Vote, Students for a Free Tibet, SEAC, the student
PIRGs, Hillel, Sierra Student Coalition, Rock the
Vote, and Greenpeace.
