refillable plastic bottles are widely spread in The Netherlands but not in
many other european countries.
The reason is that Dutch legislation impose a caution of half a dollar on
each plastic bottle
So wether it's taken back or not, you pay for the refilling.

In belgium f.e. legislation has choosen for a different approach.
When you take it back (the green dot system) refilling is not obliged.

Nevertheless, refillable glass bottles are still widely used all over
europe, even by Coca-cola.
The problem we have with this company is that they are selling slot-machines
with cans as sweet bread. Those cans give a lot of pollution and recycling
(?) has to be paid by local authorities.
It isn't very fair but Coca-cola is competing their own green alternative
(refilling) out of market. And they are very well aware of it.
