Howdy, folks. Like Jim McNelly, I have happy composting worms at home.
We compost just about all of our food scraps and yard trim, which helps us
recover roughly 90 percent of our "waste."

But Jim's note focused on the diminishing the junk mail's downstream
impacts. I'm at least as concerned about the upstream impacts -- on
forests cut down for pulp, on communities and ecosystems contaminated
through the manufacture of the paper, as well as the energy wasted
manufacturing and delivering junk mail.

What a waste of resources and human endeavor!
