PABLO COLLINS SAID
I fear that until we recognize and teach others that a) curbside
collection is a municipal service rather than a profit center, and that
b) recycling as a whole is a commercially viable industry, we will
continue to be pummeled by ignorant naysayers like Hart and Tierny.

BILL SHEEHAN SEZ
The GrassRoots Recycling Network is finishing a 60-page
report called The State of Wasting and Recycling in the United
States. It is intended to put to rest anti-recycling articles like
Hart's, and burst the bubble that wasting is safe and cheap.
Brenda Platt of the Institute for Local Self Reliance is the lead
author, but the document has input from many recyclers. The
report will be released in January.

We will ask for help from the recycling community to bring
the report to the attention of the media and local elected
officials. Stay tuned or let us know if you want to help.
