Can anyone offer advice to this person? She is trying to set up
recycling/reuse programs in a remote and resorty area of southern Mexico.
She's not on the list so please respond directly to derosamex@compuserve.com

For the three pueblos (employee towns) we have in this present area, they

will need to recycle themselves, which we can teach them, and then with the

money we receive for selling the materials, we give back to the employee

towns in the form of a YMCA or some idea like this.

This is the best idea we can come up with, as I found out nothing

special that we can do with our Karst land. But as much as possible

re-cycling will do, to start. It seems that the world's attention is very

much on garbage and sewage, and soon, we shall learn more.

So for now, can you give me some leads. We know where to sell the

aluminum cans, glass, and the easy materials, but what about other stuff

that pops up. Can you give us categories?? Can you tell us about the

percent of garbage we can re-cycle and what goes where. This would help us

out very much. We need some help...Thank you very much for your time.

Dear Matthew,

Hello again from the Coastline of Mexico's Caribbean. I had the
chance to meet with the mayor of Playa Del Carmen, just yesterday, and he
is all for re-cycling garbage. In his jurisdiction, there will need to be
3 dump sites. The mayor was actually a very nice man and seems to know the
problems this area has and/or will have soon. We also meet with the
county containing Cancun to Puerto Morelos, and the report was they were
for re-cycling also. This means, we have the entire coast now, relying on
our plan.
Our idea is for us to set a sorter garbage man in each one of the
mega-hotels and his job is to sort garbage all day long. A collection
truck will come at 9:00AM for plastics and then at 11:00AM for glass etc.
For the three pueblos (employee towns) we have in this present area, they
will need to recycle themselves, which we can teach them, and then with the
money we receive for selling the materials, we give back to the employee
towns in the form of a YMCA or some idea like this. =20
