I wish to bring to your attention a new paper that Dr. Jones-
Lee and I have developed on additional problems with today's
"dry tomb" type landfills.
While most of our work has been devoted to groundwater
pollution problems associated with the inevitable failure of the
Subtitle D composite liner system, recently we have become
involved with landfill gas issues. As a result we have found that
the approaches being used to estimate landfill gas emission
rates and duration of landfill gas production for closed Subtitle
D landfills are significantly in error. These issues are
discussed in the enclosed paper.
For now this paper can be referenced as a report of G. Fred
Lee & Associates and it is being placed on our web site,
