Robin Ingenthron of The Commenwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Waste
Management, made an interesting presentation at the NRC this week that
included the concept of using special and low cost software that emulates the
windows environment offers basic programs, such as web browser, word
prcessor, spreadsheets, email, etc. that will run on 286, 386, and 486
computers. These computers could then be used in schools to allow greater
access for students, especially in the lower grade levels. This seems like a
valuable reuse option.
