Exempt Appointment

CLASS AND TITLE: Class 1367 Assistant Commercial Recycling Coordinator,
San Francisco Recycling Program

SALARY: ($3,404-$4,130 monthly) Appointment will be made at the lowest step
unless a higher rate is approved by the Civil Service Commission.

APPOINTMENT TYPE: Exempt Appointment

Duties Include:

1. Assist in evaluating existing programs, the need for new programs, and
developing comprehensive plan for commercial programs;
2. Provide technical assistance to businesses through phone consultation an=
d
waste assessments;
3. Manage technical assistant contractor for business and City department
recycling projects, developing and monitoring contract budgets and creating
task orders;
4. Develop and implement outreach programs including conducting recycling
workshops for the public and private sectors, as well as developing and
distributing recycling-related technical materials for commercial
generators;
5. Supervise the Commercial Associate including assigning tasks and
performing evaluations;
6. Represent the Recycling Program at local business functions, fairs,
conferences, and workshops;
7. Perform physical work as needed, such as lifting and delivering recyclin=
g
trays, containers and PR materials.

Minimum Qualification: Interested applicants must have a Bachelor=B9s Degre=
e
in business, environmental studies, recycling, public policy, planning, or
related field; three years of work experience in public and private sector,
including two years in commercial recycling, and one year of administrative
or management experience; excellent writing, speaking and organizational
skills; experience in project management and problem solving; and experienc=
e
working with individuals and group, such as business, associations and
recyclers. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the
required education on a year-for-year basis. A Master=B9s Degree in one of
the fields above may be substituted for one year of experience.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Experience in recycling and
speaking before groups; familiarity with and interest in recycling
principles; experience preparing and managing budgets and supervising
staff; ability to work independently and in a team environment; IBM-Windows
literate, and bilingual.
