The Wisconsin Legislature is currently circulating a joint
resolution, asking Congress to pass legislation giving a state the
right to limit the importing of solid waste from outside of the
state. Over 1.2 million tons of solid waste are currently imported
annually into Wisconsin

The resolution was put together by a lobbyist for Waste Management.
When I asked the aide for the main legislator endorsing this
proposal, the aide said that Waste Management feels that such
legislation will be adopted this year at the national level and the
firm wants to make work to make it reasonable.
