Director of Waste Management Programs
Position Description

Responsibilities:
This position has the primary responsibility for developing and managing
CET's
technical assistance and education work in waste management. The position
can
be based in either CET's Northampton or Pittsfield office and requires work
in
both offices. The new Director of Waste Management Programs (Director) will
report to the person currently holding that position.

The Director will:
- directly supervise 3-6 or more professional employees as well as
several Americorp*VISTA members and/or interns
- provide support to waste management staff and ensure that project
goals
are met in a timely manner through high-quality work
- work with staff input to develop new projects suitable for grant
funding and fee-for-service work
- report to and interact with current and potential funders, clients and
government officials
- represent CET as appropriate on local, regional, State and national
boards, task forces and other groups

Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and consistently reach
goals on time
- Significant management experience and flexible, people-oriented
management style
- Professional, hard-work ethic
- Creative problem-solving ability and strong analytical skills
- Rigorous attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with many types of
clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and succeed without close supervision
- Understanding and appreciation for economic and environmental issues
- Experience in waste management - recycling, composting, hazardous waste,
reuse
- Private sector/industry experience
- Knowledge of Massachusetts and local waste management and environmental
issues and players
- Computer word processing, spreadsheet and database skills

Compensation:
The salary will be in the high thirties/low forties for this fulltime
position. Benefits include
several health insurance options. Paid leave includes 3 weeks vacation, 12
holidays and 9 sick days. Professional development opportunities include
regional and national conferences and workshops as appropriate.

A non-profit (501c3) organization established in 1976, CET works as a
catalyst
for changing solid waste and energy practices that adversely impact the
natural ecology of the Earth. Working with local industry, government and
residents, CET demonstrates and promotes practical applications of
sustainable

CET currently employs 22 professionals in offices in Northampton and
